About
Painter. Climber. Runner. Mother.
I'm a fine artist and outdoor adventurer from California. Natural landscapes inspire me in more ways than one. Whenever I'm out being active outside I'm constantly zeroing in on how I would draw certain elements around me.
Background & Creative Roots
I’ve been oil painting since I was a young child and was always sketching on everything. After early private lessons, I continued developing my own style through formal study and a lot of experimentation.
I hold bachelor’s degrees in Studio Art and Art History, studied abroad in Scotland, and graduated with honors — but honestly, some of my best education came from sketchbooks stuffed into climbing packs and paint kits carried into the desert.
About the Work
I create original abstract and contemporary landscape paintings inspired by iconic and off-the-beaten-path natural spaces around the world — from dramatic peaks and desert towers to layered canyon walls and weathered rock.
Every piece is hand-painted and hand-drawn by me. I work primarily on canvas and archival watercolor paper using gouache, ink, and mixed media — often layering line work with bold color to create depth and movement. My paintings are less about perfectly recreating a location and more about capturing the energy of it — the movement, texture, and mood that sticks with you long after you leave.
About the Topos and Topo Tees Series
About 8 years ago my husband’s father asked me to draw and paint a topo of Rainbow Wall’s Original Route climb (located in Red Rock Canyon) with the original aid route shown, which he had climbed back in the 80’s. I borrowed the old publication from the American Alpine Club’s library to find the aid ratings and made the painting!
I quickly expanded this idea into a series of climbing topo paintings. For the original paintings, I hand-drew the route and hand-wrote all of the information with a traditional ink and dip pen. I illustrated multiple multi-pitch routes for Climbing Magazine from 2019-2022. In 2022 I illustrated Leo Houlding’s book titled “Closer to the Edge: Climbing to the Ends of the Earth.” I am now starting a “Topo Tees” series where I am offering these designs, which now are being done digitally, on t-shirts for everyone to wear! This has been a dream of mine for quite some time and I’m excited to share it with you!
